With over 300 members, Lethbridge Polytechnic Faculty Association and its members are building the economy of the future by making sure that Southern Albertans have the skills they need to succeed.

Our mission is to serve our members through contract negotiation and advocacy to build academic recognition through collaboration, mutual respect, and professional excellence.


Our Executive Team

Dave English

Lethbridge Polytechnic Faculty Association President

Dave has been a faculty member at Lethbridge Polytechnic for more than 20 years, starting out in the Professional Golf Management program and now working in the marketing major in the School of Business. In addition to marketing courses Dave also teaches financial planning, whereby he attempts to instill a good understanding of personal financial tools and strategies for students. When not teaching Dave enjoys outdoor activities like skiing, golf, and even hockey.

Kerry Edwards

VP Negotiations & Welfare

Kerry Edwards is the Lethbridge Polytechnic Faculty Association VP Negotiations and Welfare for the coming term. He has extensive experience serving faculty in this role, and will be the lead on grievances and other welfare issues. Upon ratification of the 2020-24 Collective Agreement, he will also lead the bargaining process.

Faculty Relations Officer

Mike’s professional journey is grounded in a solid educational foundation. He is a graduate of Lethbridge Polytechnic, where he completed the CIT program, and he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of Lethbridge. His education and experience have provided him with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively manage the complexities of labor relations in a strategic and thoughtful manner.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mike enjoys spending time outdoors. He frequently engages in activities such as hiking in the mountains, swimming in glacier-fed waters, or enjoying the summer weather. Originally from Lethbridge and raised in Edmonton, Mike values the Southern Alberta region and its natural surroundings.

In his personal life, Mike is involved in the day-to-day activities of raising two teenagers. Whether it’s coordinating their extracurricular schedules or spending time with his family, he approaches the responsibilities of parenthood with dedication. Mike also follows a guiding principle, inspired by a quote from Maya Angelou: “If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be,” which reflects his commitment to authenticity and personal growth.
